Well, its been a long while since hello games released an update – the last being NEXT, which got a whole new generation of players into the game. Unfortunately for some of us die hard supporters of the game, the game has changed into something that does not quite feel like it used to. That’s not to say its bad, its not, its just not quite how we envisaged it.
It’s also been a long long time since hello games have released any news, and the content creators were just starting up with their “oh woe is us, we dont know what’s going on, you guys suck at communication” collection of videos.
However, Sean Murray – and I think he (or someone at HG) monitors social media closely – almost immediately tweeted that there was 3 updates in the works, but rather than release them one by one, they would combine them in to one big update called “BEYOND”.
So far they they have only teased one of the three updates they are calling “No Man’s Sky online”. This is what they say about it:
No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO – it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players.
From the looks of the trailer, there is some kind of funky warpy thing in a station.. So.. heads up, big things are happening, we hope!
