E3 2017 – Nintendo Showcase

Featured Gaming gamingnews Jaz News Slider

Nintendo didn’t have a presentation on a stage, but rather a series of pre-recorded videos which were streamed. I guess it helped with the English subtitles for the Japanese speakers. It was also the shortest presentation of the lot and only went for half an hour.

I was expecting a lot of Nintendo Switch games, but the entire thing was just Nintendo Switch games! Not that I was complaining.

Let’s get into it.

Third Party on the Switch

Nintendo’s brought a whole bunch of third party games onto the Switch. Skyrim was confirmed at the Bethesda conference, and today we got a glimpse of FIFA 18 and Rocket League joining in!

Rocket League will be getting Switch exclusive customisations (including little Mario hats!) and cars and the game will support local wireless multiplayer! The Switch will also feature cross-play, so you battle against people playing on PC and other consoles!

Nintendo Originals

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

We got a new trailer for the sequel of Xenoblade Chronicles that takes a look at the story and characters. There’s a super awkward moment at the start between the boy and girl characters, and the stream I was watching jumped so I got to see it twice. I can only deal with so much cringe.

Kirby

Yep! Kirby is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch. What’s super cool is that you can have up to four players on the same screen! The game looks super cute in a modern take of the classic Kirby.

It’s set to come out next year!

Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4 was teased to be in development for the Nintendo Switch! There’s a video here, but it is literally some black, some pretty cool music, and then the logo appears, so you can watch it if you want, but that’s all you’re going to get.

Yoshi

Ooh, this looks super cute! A little Yoshi running around a world that reminds me of the PS Vita’s Tearaway. It’s a cute world with a cute Yoshi running around to cute music, and you can play it with a friend too! I’m all for this one.

You can catch this wee cutey some time next year.

Fire Emblem Warriors

A new Fire Emblem game is coming to the Switch, in the form of Warriors! We already knew this, but we get a better look at the story. With the help of some friends, two siblings set out to save their kingdom from an evil dragon! It should be noted that the game will only be available with English VO. You can’t change over to Japanese. Fire Emblem Warriors will be hitting stores closer to end of this year. If you can’t wait for it, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is already out on the Nintendo 3DS. You can check out our review for it here!

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC

Breath of the Wild will be getting its first two DLC packs in the form of The Master Trials. The Trial of the Sword is your first DLC pack and will be available on the 30th of June. It includes a Hero’s Path Mode and a Master Mode as well as new armour, enemies and a Korok mask!

The second DLC pack The Champions’ Ballad is dropping at the end of the year and will be adding some new quirky characters to the world.

Super Mario Odyssey

Mario is getting a new game for the Switch and it looks pretty cool with dinosaurs, travelling all around the world and gaining the ability to turn into other characters and objects, such as electricity.

It’s due to come out 27th October.

Competitive

Nintendo is also rolling out a Competitive mode for ARMS and other games. ARMS is a super cool game, and you should check out our review for it here.

And that’s it from Nintendo and all the E3 conferences! If you missed anything or can’t be bothered reading through all the articles, you can check out our article E3 in a Nutshell! We’ve got everything in one place.
