E-sports is finally finding a foothold here on our little nation. Let’s Play.Live’s Dota 2 ANZ Championship Grand Final was held at the Sky City Theatre where Athletico and Shutdown battled it out for an $8000 prize pool. It was the best of 3 so we settled in for possibly a good few hours. Shutdown put up an excellent fight in the first round. There were a few nail-biting moments where they held their own with an undeniably fat Alchemist, but eventually gave way to Athletico’s unbeaten teamwork and coordination. With spirits high on Athletico’s side (these boys sure are a loud and lively bunch), Shutdown unfortunately crumbled in the second round as well, with the game ending in a “gg”.
