Games yet to come out this year that you should be excited for!

It’s halfway through the year, which means we’ve seen the release of some pretty big games: The Division, Doom, Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, just to name a few. But, hey, there’s still another 6 months left to go!

Here’s a pretty concise list of the games I think you should be excited for if you aren’t already.

No Man’s Sky

A lot of people have lost their hype for this game, and many more were furious that they pushed their release date back. But I reckon No Man’s Sky is still going to be one of the best games to come out in 2016. Right now we don’t know too much about it except that it is massive.

There’s combat (if you want it), factions (allies and enemies, you choose) and everybody ever playing it on the same server. Except, you’re almost 100% guaranteed never to meet another player. That’s how big the game is.

I suspect it will have a Minecraft feel to it, with no official story to follow and lots of crafting and exploring. You will gradually learn alien languages and your exploration is limited by your resources and size of your ship’s engine.

I am super pumped for this game, and you’ll be able to make No Man’s Sky your sky on August 9th.

Persona 5

The latest addition to the beloved Persona franchise is hitting the shelves this year. In this JRPG, you’re a school kid by day and masked vigilante by night, using your “persona” powers to steal evil intentions from the hearts of adults.

You and your vigilante buddies all have the ability to summon elements of your psyche as separate entities called “personas,” which you use to fight the bad guys in turn-based combat. And while you’re out saving the world, don’t forget to balance your school, work and personal lives as well!

Don’t worry about the ‘5’ (it’s actually the sixth in the series) – each Persona title plays like its own game, so no need to back track and see what’s happened in the story. Kind of like Far Cry.

You’ll be able to check this out on September 15th.

The Last Guardian

If you haven’t heard about this game yet, then you’re missing out. The long awaited game by the creators of Shadow of the Colossus and Ico has a release date!

If their previous games are anything to go by, we’re in for real treat of heavy hits to the feels. The Last Guardian follows a boy and his giant bird-dog as they … well, I’m not entirely sure. But I’m pretty certain the story is going to focus on the relationship between the boy and giant bird-dog. And I will bet my entire gaming collection that it’s going to be a touching story.

Seriously, all of us gamers at Pretty Much Geeks are super keen for this game and we will be first in line to grab it on October 25th.

 Dishonored 2

Aha, Bethesda is dishing out the games this year.

Dishonored 2 is the sequel (if you hadn’t guessed) to the highly acclaimed Dishonored. While the first game followed Corvo Attano, bodyguard of the empress, whom he’s framed for murdering, the second game allows you to choose between Corvo or his daughter, the heir to the throne, Emily Kaldwin, as your playable character. And once again they’ve been usurped.

Both have special powers that will help you fight, avoid, and deceive your enemies. There is a big focus on choosing your playstyle: lethal or non-lethal? Rock on in guns-blazing, or take people out from the shadows?

I am a stealth player by heart, so I am really excited for this game. The first was amazing, but now with PS4 power (and the option of a female protagonist!) I am foreseeing an awesome experience here.

You too can become a supernaturally powered assassin on November 11th.

If you loved Journey, you’re going to love this game too. Except, instead of floating above the gorgeous sands of a lost land, you’re going to swim through the waters of a drowned world.

It just looks so pretty and beautiful and exactly what you need after a stressful day at work. Swimming through schools of fish, jumping with orca and dolphins and discovering weird, futuristic-looking ancient places all to a dreamy soundtrack. Yeah, that sounds like my kind of jam.

We’ll be able to dive into this game August 2nd.

And there we have it: five games that you should be reeling to have a go. If you are like me and super excited about any of these, or you think I missed an epic game yet to come from this list, leave us a comment! What games are you super excited for?
