The Games and Movies We’re Most Excited for in 2019!

Articles Gaming gamingnews Movies news Slider

2018 was the year of God of War and A Star Is Born. We saw awesome movies like Crazy Rich Asians and Lady Bird, and played amazing games like Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Mobile Game of the Year, Florence. But 2018 has come to a close and we now stand on the brink of 2019! Here’s a list of the movies and games that we’re most looking forward to this year!

Star Wars Episode IX

Yes, I know this is the poster for The Last Jedi, but there’s no official poster out yet either! Sheesh, they’re being secretive

Sure, it’s set to come out at the verrry end of 2019, but it’s still 2019! Though it’s still far enough away that there isn’t even a teaser trailer out yet (not one that isn’t leaked, anyway). Whether you love it or hate it, chances are you’re probably going to see the last installment to the latest Star Wars trilogy at some point.

Marvel Universe films!

If you haven’t heard of the Marvel universe and all the many, many, many movies it’s pumping out, then where have you been living for the past half decade?! Not on Earth, apparently. Not only is the grand finale to the Avengers films being released with Avengers: Endgame, we’ve got another solo female superhero film in the form of Captain Marvel, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Pet Sematary

All horror fans rejoice! There are A LOT of good looking horror films coming out this year, and one of them is Pet Sematary, based on – you guessed it – a Stephen King novel.

All the Disney live action films!

Oh. My. Gosh. Not one, not two, but THREE live action Disney remakes are hitting the cinemas this year, and one of them is The freaking Lion King. But before that, we’ve got a flying elephant and a cheeky thief turned prince. If you’re not excited for any of these, you didn’t live through the 90’s. Despite their release dates, the original animated films are still going strong, so some people might say, WHY?! Why are they making these?! But it doesn’t matter, because me, you, and the people asking why, are all going to go see them anyway.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

Okay, okay, I understand the controversy. Talking Pikachu? DEADPOOL Pikachu? LIVE ACTION PIKACHU?! But in all honesty, the majority of us here at Pretty Much Geeks (of those that care, anyway) are genuinely excited for this! In Courty’s words: “It’s going to be really, really good, or really really bad, but either way it looks like it will be a lot of fun!”

How to Train Your Dragon 3

Hnngg, there are so many great animated film sequels coming out this year too! The finale to How to Train Your Dragon 3 – Di is particularly excited about seeing Toothless getting a girlfriend! – but we’re also being gifted with Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4!

Onto the games! Anthem is BioWare’s latest project and first foray into the online multiplayer looting genre. We’re hoping they’re still going to dish out that good RPG, character development goodness they’re known for, and we welcome any fresh approach to the Destiny-esque type game.

Death Stranding

Technically, it has a release date for 2019, so Death Stranding has made the list! Hideo Kojima first teased this mysterious game in 2016 and we’ve been waiting ever since to play it so we can finally make sense of all these weird and intriguing trailers.

Crash Team Racing

THAT’S RIGHT, we are FINALLY getting a remake of flipping CRASH TEAM RACING, the best racing game of all our childhoods. Mmm, the sound of those starting lights. We are so ready for this game. June can’t come any sooner!

Kingdom Hearts III

Another game that has finally emerged. Kingdom Hearts III, the long awaited actual sequel to Kingdom Hearts II.

Last of Us Part II

Okay so this, as Strahan puts it, is probably a bit optimistic, but we’re hoping for a 2019 release date for The Last of Part II! Please, Naughty Dog! Please!

And those were but a few of our most anticipated games and films for 2019! What are you most excited for this year?
