Microsoft’s E3 conference this year was jam packed with new trailers, Xbox exclusives and world premiere announcements! With 50 games on show, it was a visual extravaganza that just kept delivering. We’ve picked the highlights for you here.
Gears 5 Announcement
The ‘of Wars’ in the title has been dropped for this latest installment in the Gears of War franchise, but if the trailer is anything to go by, the drama and the thrills are there in droves. The game will follow Kait Diaz on what appears to be a violent and emotional journey.
Gears 5 is due to be released 2019 on Xbox One and Windows.
Cyberpunk 2077 New Trailer
CD Projekt Red, the developers behind the acclaimed Witcher series, have been elusive about their dystopian, open world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 which was announced in 2012. That’s why it’s so exciting to see a new trailer for it!
The trailer shows dystopian future imagery that is similar to Blade Runner in style, such as holograms, robots, a kid playing with a virtual reality headset and, of course, flying cars. There’s clearly plenty of gritty violence in this world too. Still no release date yet but it’s great to see progress being made!
Halo Infinite Announcement
Master Chief is back in this sixth installment of the Halo franchise. It seems like the game is still in early development but the trailer shows off the capabilities of the new Slipspace engine. It shows some stunning potential so we’ll do our best to wait patiently for this one.
Captain Spirit Announcement and Release Date!
In unexpected news, a new game in the Life is Strange universe will be released this month – and it’s completely free! Developers DONTNOD explained in their blog post that it’s a precursor to Life is Strange 2, with hints into the upcoming story. You’ll play as Chris, a 10 year old boy who has big dreams of being a superhero (don’t we all!). In their characteristic style, it seems like a very sweet and relatable story. We’re very excited to get our hands on this one when it’s released on June 26th.
Metro Exodus New Trailer and Release Date
Developers 4A Games make such visually stunning games, so I couldn’t help but feel a little giddy from the pretty as I watched the new Metro Exodus trailer. With all manner of gruesome and glorious monsters on display in a cold and hostile world, it looks like a wild ride!
Metro Exodus will be released February 22nd 2019.
Kingdom Hearts III New Trailer
In a first for the beloved series, Kingdom Hearts III is coming to Xbox. The trailer features scenes and characters from Frozen, Tangled and Wreck-It-Ralph.
Kingdom Hearts III releases on January 29 2019 for Xbox One and PS4.
Forza Horizon 4 Announcement
Scenic racing game Forza Horizon 4 has been announced. It’s set in Britain and is unique in that it has changing seasons. It’s not purely an aesthetic change, different seasons also mean different map areas opening up to you, for example in winter a lake may freeze over and be driven on. It also has a shared open world so you can race with friends (or random strangers).
Shadow of the Tomb Raider New Trailer
The third installment in the Tomb Raider reboot is coming very soon with a release date of September 14th 2018. Check out the latest trailer if you want to get hyped!
Just Cause 4 Announcement and Release Date
Square Enix has announced that Just Cause 4, the latest in the larger than life, open world series is in development by developers Avalanche Studios. With a release date of December 4th this year, right in time for Christmas, you won’t have long to wait.
Dying Light 2 Announcement
If you’re looking for your next narrative heavy game, Dying Light 2 could be the experience you’re waiting for. With narrative designer Chris Avellone on board (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Planescape Torment), we have big expectations. The game also looks to have a strong emphasis on player choice and how your actions will send ripples through the world.
