E3 2017 in a Nutshell

It’s E3 2017 guys! Right here is a post of everything E3 from EA to Nintendo. Check back every day for more updates!

Starting on Saturday 10th June (Sunday morning for NZ) we have the earliest conference to ever be had at E3: The EA Conference in Hollywood.

EA Press Conference

  • The conference kicked off with a drum line dressed in American Football gear and a cool new trailer for Madden 18 was announced. Madden 18 has a very dramatic trailer for its new campaign called Long Shot which looks like it could be a good movie. This is the first time Madden 18 has had a campaign story.
  • Battlefield 1 is getting new content in the form of In the Name of the Tsar, a big update that takes the player to the Eastern Front and includes six new maps, new vehicles, new classes, and new people to play from the Russian army including the Women’s Battalion of Death
  • FIFA 18 had Cristiano Ronaldo motion capped for their animation. Alex Hunter comes back for the new campaign. His story continues in The Journey: Hunter Returns.
  • Need for Speed: Payback busts some moves in a new game play trailer. There are three playable characters each with a unique play style and story line. Game is open world with more diverse environments than any Need For Speed game. So basically, more off-roading than before. Also, the AI is harder, and the customisation options would take days to explain.
  • EA Originals shows off a partnership with Josef Fares, the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. He and his new studio Hazelight announced their game, A Way Out. It’s a prison-break, co-op adventure! Fares wanted to create a game that isn’t a drop-in, drop-out experience, but is instead one where you and your friend can go through an emotional experience together. You can play online but it’s made for couch co-op. It looks absolutely amazing and is coming out early 2018.
  • Seed (Search for Extraordinary Experiences Division) was touched upon. It’s a division within EA that looks at research into latest technologies and see how they can further blur reality with the digital world.
  • There was talk on Project Scorpio and how good graphics are only the beginning.
  • “Scorpio is coming at the right time.” I feel like that was a bit of a dig at the PS4 Pro’s rushed entry into world.
  • BioWare’s exciting new IP Anthem was teased. It will be properly showcased alongside Project Scorpio at the Microsoft Conference.
  • NBA Live 18 gets a FIFA Streets vibe. Your choices decide who you are. From the streets to the league, everything matters, your legacy is up to you.
  • “30 minutes of unadulterated Star Wars!”
  • Star Wars Battlefront II was left till last and what a good show it was. Stormtroopers lined the stage and Janina Gavankar (actress for Iden Versio) told us to expect three times the content that was in Battlefront. Couch co-op is back with the return of skirmish. There are more heroes, more vehicles, and more customisation options from all the Star Wars eras. A class system was introduced. And then we were treated to a 20 minute live multiplayer match.
  • In the mobile game Galaxy of Heroes, Grand Admiral Thrawn is announced as a new character.
