Welcome to the Pretty Much Weekly! A series where we bring you a selection of this week’s news in film, gaming and tech! This week, you can buy an Iron Man drone, Valve has released how much its VR headset is gonna cost, and Sonic the Hedgehog is officially revealed in a new trailer.

If Tony Stark made commercial drones

Is the Avenger fever getting too much for you? Would you buy a drone inspired by Iron Man’s iconic armour? RYZE Tech have collaborated with Marvel to give their Tello drone a sleek new look that even comes with an app that features Tony Stark’s AI Assistant, FRIDAY!

Google have also joined in on the fun! Google “Thanos” and click on the gauntlet. Seriously, you won’t regret it.

Even if you don’t care about the Marvel universe, it’s hard to deny the phenomenon that was Endgame. The global opening broke many records, grossing $1.22 billion. It’s expected to make all its money back by Sunday. Sheesh!

Valve reveals the deets on their new VR headset

A month ago, Valve came out with the Index, a new high-end VR headset that’s apparently the best on the mainstream market. We now know that it also has the price to go with that promise. Unless you supplement with parts from the HTC Vive setup, the full kit for the Index is USD$999 (roughly NZD$1500).

For me the controllers are the most interesting part of the kit. They use 87 different sensors (“optical, motion, capacitive, and force”) to figure out what your hands and even fingers are doing at any one time. So in game you can actually squeeze an object by applying more pressure to the controller.

If you want to splash out on it, you can preorder the Index now, which starts shipping in June.

Sonic. Has. A. Trailer.

Oh boy. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. Live action Sonic, what are you going to be??

Many people are horrified. Many are offended. I, will see it solely for Jim Carrey. Who knows? Maybe it’ll actually be an okay film.

And in sport!

LetsPlay.Live, the Oceania esports company, is hosting the Grand Final of the NZ Project Cars 2 Championship! The top eight drivers in the country will be going head to head live on stage in Auckland’s SKYCITY Theatre.

Happening on the 23rd of May at 6pm, you can get your tickets here! They’re $10.50 each. I went to the Gran Turismo Sport championship last year, and that was definitely a fun time. So I might see you at this one!
