Usually I try to get a good balance of news from the different corners of entertainment: movies, TV, games, and collectibles. But this week is unashamedly all about my favourite corner, games.
Cyberpunk 2077 did an info dump in a 14 minute stream, Nintendo dropped some bombs in their Direct this week, and apparently PUMA have always wanted to make a gaming chair.
Also, I’m not joking about real life Cluedo. You’ll want to read to the end of the article.
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting multiplayer (eventually)
A few big announcements happened in the gaming sphere this week. Developer CD Projekt Red uploaded a video walking us through one of the areas in Night City and showed off a little bit of the different play styles Cyberpunk 2077 allows you to use.
There’s no set classes, but apparently you can go from super strong terminator that can force open doors and rip the guns off turrets to super stealthy and not kill a single person in your run through.
Oh, and it’s been announced that after the single player and free DLCs drop, CD Projekt plans to add a multiplayer mode! They’re hiring for it now!
Overwatch, The Witcher 3, and Assassin’s Creed are coming to the Switch
Nintendo Direct happened a couple of days ago, and in just under 40 minutes, they showed off more 3rd party titles to hit the Switch this year:
- Return of the Obra Dinn
- Doom 64
- Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition
- Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age
- Call of Cthulhu
- Assassin’s Creed: Rebel Collection
The Rebel Collection features Black Flag and Rogue, the former being my favourite Assassin’s Creed game before Origins.
Not only did we see a long list of new titles, we also we also got a look at some more gameplay news for a few highly-anticipated games! Here’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
And we discovered that you can play with your Pokémon when you camp! As well as other players’ Pokémon you meet in the big wide world! After watching this I realised that any game that lets you buy clothes and features a curry cooking system is a good game in my books.
I didn’t quite cover everything, but these were my highlights. To see the whole thing for yourself, here is the full broadcast!
PUMA made a modern rocking chair
PUMA wants to enter the gaming scene and has made their own “sitting gear” to add to their collection of sports apparel. Let me introduce you to the PUMA Game Seat:
We have to start seeing gamers as athletes with requirements particular to their sports as a sports companyCharles Johnson, PUMA’s global director of innovation
After some research, PUMA found that when console players were being attacked in-game, they would lean back. And when they were attacking, they would lean forward. So PUMA designed this seat to move with them.
It’s kind of a cool concept, but I already have a lovely couch for me to relax in when I play on my PlayStation.
Partake in Real Life Cluedo!
A world-wide phenomenon is coming to Auckland and Wellington on the 30th of November. CluedUpp Games is setting up a murder mystery within two of our biggest cities!
The city-wide adventure will transport you to London in the ’60s where you and a team of up to five other people (not including pets and kids!) solve the murder of the Kray Twins.
There’s prizes for the fastest solvers, the best dressed, the best team name and more, but surely the best reward would be running around like a lunatic with friends and family solving a murder!!
